How would you like to come visit Children's Attic on November 8th (the shop will be closed, but open for me to use), pay $50.00 and get 7 points to spend on prints or holiday cards?? You'll get a 15 minute session with me...which includes everything I do for a 2 hour session, just crammed into 15 minutes. All images will be handled in the same way that a full 2 hour session is, stored, edited...etc. Holiday cards are 5x7 and "cost" 7 points for 25! And by doing it November 8th, you'll have them with plenty of time to send them out to friends and family. I overnight ship and can have it shipped directly to you! :) I'm only offering it on this one day, Monday November 8th, from 10:00 AM - Noon, then 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM. So email me ASAP to reserve your session today! firstname.lastname@example.org (I do invites and thank you cards as well! Below is an example of an invite)

I've always been on the hunt on how to price things economically minded while trying to make packages that I thought would make sense. However, why would that make sense if it's not what you want, right? The new system is simple. Packages I had started at $30 and so this starts out by giving you a basic package for $30. What's in the package, however, isn't prints...it's points. You get 7 points to "spend" on prints...of ANY image! No more "one pose per package" rule. I have a chart that has what each size print "costs" in points. And you can purchase more points to make your package bigger. The more points you buy, the cheaper it is per point! So here's the chart, and the prices. You must buy the basic package to get a package.
Basic Package $30.00
7 Points (ex. 8 wallets, one 5x7, one 8x10)
Add on points to make your own packages:
1-4 points: $5.00 each
5-9 points: $4.75 each
10-14 points: $4.50 each
15-19 points: $4.25 each
20+ points: $4.00 each
So if you wanted (16 wallets, two 5x7, 8x10, and a 10x13) it would cost $72.75 instead of $90.00! And each sheet can be a different image! (Wallets must come in groups of 8). I hope this will make things a whole lot easier! Specialty shoots, such as seniors and Day in the Life of...haven't changed (as of yet). I'll get to those later, and I'm going to be assigning points to everything I sell to make it a lot more organized and simple to arrange. (Such as greeting/holiday cards which are 7 points). :)

I'm cleared!...and I have appointments stacking up! I'm the type of person who gets a high from taking pictures. I get giddy, my allergy headaches go away, I'm no longer tired despite the lack of sleep, and I just feel good in general. So I'm excited! First I have a big family session for a friend of mine at a park near some gorgeous stairs, then some fun football pictures for another friend! I've never done sports pictures so I'm looking forward to this!
I'm also offering a fantastic $15 mini session, one day only for 2 hours on Sunday, October 17th from 2-4 PM at Ellison park. The $15.00 gets you the session, 1-5x7 and 4 wallets! So email me quickly and make your appointment! I'm taking only 6 appointments to fill the time slot. My email address is email@example.com. Make sure you put in the subject line "Halloween 2010 Special." I will have props to sit on and pose with. Great for costume pictures!
In other news, a very good friend of mine is opening a children's and maternity consignment shop just 15 minutes away from Eastview Mall. Children's Attic! (Picture is shown above) Be sure to "Like" her Facebook page to keep up on the latest information. She'll be having a big opening night in mid October and is offering prizes for her facebook fans! (ehem...like...one may be a free portrait session with me!). We're also talking about me using her shop as a studio on the days she's not open! What this will mean is winter portraits will be possible, as well as rainy day sessions, and basic posed stuff...great for newborns, and young children who you just want a backdrop for. If this happens, I'll have more information up about it!

While I'm not supposed to go off hiking to take pictures, such as the stairs out at the Devil's Bathtub in Mendon Ponds Park, I am back at it starting this week (Sept. 20th). A friend of mine is opening up a children's and maternity consignment shop in Farmington, NY so I'm going to go snap off some pics of her shop...I'm really excited! I'll be consigning through there, so some of the clothes my kids have worn will end up there. Can't guarantee the baby clothes will since my sister is expecting and if she has a girl, I'll be shipping her stuff, but I have BAGS of girl's clothes sizes 4 and 5. Then, the same friend who is opening her shop is also expecting and I'm going to take maternity photos of her on the 25th! So for all intent purposes, I'm back and open!
If you'd like to make an appointment, there's only a few provisos. Depending on the day, it'll be likely that Tabbi is dragged along with me. I will have days that I'll not need to bring her however. I will post up my availability in my next post as soon as I've gathered my dates. :)

Yesterday I had the privilege of taking pictures for the boutique hair bow and accessory creator Meg, from Kai Blooms! I had a great time out there and the weather was almost perfect for the whole time. Meg is an up and coming talent in the area. Everyone buzzes over her creations, and once Tabbitha arrives, I can tell you there will be no shortage off newborn pictures showing off her headbands and other newborn items! (I'm hoping Tabbi gets here in the next couple of weeks!) In the meanwhile, there's certainly no shortage of other models for her bows and accessories. Here's a sneak peek of the shoot! I LOVE the necklaces!

So as you might know I'm expecting my 3rd. :) So far I've been able to remain pretty active and I don't plan on letting that stop me much, thanks to my trips to the chiropractor. I am due August 28th. Currently I visit my doctor every other week on Wednesdays (June 23rd, July14th, etc) until I am at every week. And every other week for the time being I go to the chiropractor, opposite weeks from the OB, sort of as needed. My kids get out of school on June 23rd, which will eat away at my availability, limiting me to the days my husband has off of work. Topping that all off we are very likely traveling to MI July 3rd-13th (So any Michiganders who want pics, I'll be there though my weekends are full!). After that I have more availability. As of right now it consists of: June 17th, 18th, 21st (limited), 22nd (morning), and the 26th. July 14th (limited), 15th, 19th (limited), 20th (limited), 21st, and 26th. I am not booking into August until the 3rd week in July, just due to everything going on, but I'm sure I'll be safe the first 2 weeks. I am taking off August 22nd onward. If you really want to schedule something in August, let me know and I can pencil you in, but things may change! :) Full moon is the 24th of Aug. Any bets as to when I'll go?? lol After the baby is born, I'll need a bit of recovery time then I'm back out there taking pictures, especially with school starting up. My only caveat is that I will have to bring my newborn with me...not like I'll have to chase the baby around. :) (Notice I'm not using gender? I'll announce July 10th) I know it's not 100% professional, but I shouldn't have any issues as long as we squeeze in between feedings/changings which should be about 2 hours anyway. If anything it'll be more useful as I'll have a stroller to haul all of my stuff. If I try this and it isn't working out, I'll simply bring an assistant with me. :) Pumpkin Patch stuff shouldn't be affected, nor should fall color photos. I love doing pictures in the fall. So if you have plans to get pictures done, I wouldn't delay!

With summer on the way, that means you Juniors out there in high school should be thinking about senior pictures! I don't have a studio (yet) so I don't really do yearbook photos, but if you're looking for a more natural setting to share with friends and family, and let's not forget your invitations to your grad party, 2012, check out my website and go to the Galleries section. Rachel T. was a senior I did a photo shoot for. We had a great time and couldn't have asked for better weather. I work with you and your parents to get the shots you want, and they want. I've always found it really interesting to look through the pictures with teens and their parents...half the time they don't like the same pictures! So it's important to get a lot of different poses and as always, to just enjoy the day. :) I won't be available in late August...I'm out on maternity leave for a while as I'm due August 28th, but I'm taking appointments until I can no longer walk or August 15th...whichever comes first. Afterward, I'm taking the month of September off, and will come back to work in October, unless I'm getting restless. Remember, I can take pictures, have them edited within 24 hours and ready to view...and order. Once an order is placed and payment has been received (and cleared), it's just a 1-2 day wait to get them directly to your door! (weekends slow things down, however) Have a great summer and be on the look out for a place you might want to set up a shoot! :)

What's a Portrait Party?
Just like hosting a food party, tupperware type party, bag party, or makeup party, you invite a group of friends, though they also can bring their family. There must be a minimum of 4 families/friends attending, with a maximum of 8. Each family or friend gets 15 minutes, so a party lasts anywhere from 1 - 2 hours. You can add more if you'd like and have room to accommodate that many people. Each friend/or family attending consists of an individual or a group who would purchase their own pictures. For example, if you did a Mom's Night Out, each mom is her own potential order. If you invite 4 families, each family would place their own individual order (not each family member). Your guests do not need to remain at the party the entire duration. The party takes place on location. You provide the home, garden, park, or field to use for the party, as well as any light refreshments for the guests. Remember to avoid staining foods if children will be there! There is NO SESSION FEE. And there is no ordering at the event, so you and your guests do not feel pressured to make any purchases. As the hostess/host you will earn discounts on your portrait packages based on the sales earned from your guests!
During each 15 minute session, I will capture 10-50+ pictures per friend or family. For families, I will do group and individual pictures of members.
How does it work?
- Invite 4-8 guests/families (or more if needed)
- You schedule the 15 minute sessions using a provided sheet
- I'll edit and post images for you and your guests to view
- Guests place orders through you (they have 1 week to order)
- You and I get together and go over images
- You deliver images to guests or they pick them up from you
You get 5% off for each order placed from guests! If you have 5 guests and each place an order, that's 25% off your entire order! 8 guests would get you 40%! Prices are reasonable, and will be listed below. For each of your guests placing an order of $100 or more (including you), you get a free sheet 9up to a 10x13) of your choice, from ANY portrait session of your choice (was there a picture you had taken last year? Get it free!)!
You are responsible for providing portrait location. I ask that it's suitable for creating professional portraits with sufficient lighting. Whenever possible, outdoor lighting is best. You're required to have in attendance 4 individuals/families minimum. I will give you a form to use to schedule each 15 minute session.
I will provide invitations and envelopes for mailing, which you will fill out and mail. I will arrive 30 minutes early to check out the area and set up whatever needs to be set up. If the area is located away from the rest of the party, children will be less distracted. I will post pictures on my website under a special password (which will be handed out with instructions when pictures are taken) for guests to view before ordering through you. I will provide order forms as well. They have 1 week to order (money must be turned in when order is placed, cash, check, or if they prefer I can send an online invoice), then I collect the order from you and place it. Portraits come in to me, depending on the day the order is placed, 1-3 days later, and I deliver them to you. You deliver them to the guests. The entire process takes approximately 2 weeks after the party.
All pricing below includes tax and handling.
Pricing for Parties:
- Package 1 - ($26.00) 1-8x10 1-5x7 4 wallets
- Package 2 - ($36.00) 1-8x10 2-5x7 8 wallets
- Package 3 - ($62.00) 1-8x10 3-5x7 4-4x6 16 wallets
- Package 4 - ($123.00) 1-11x14 2-8X10 4-5X7 6-4X6 32 wallets

First post of the year! I normally don't do pictures in the winter, mainly because I don't have a studio but I have a great pair of boots now that actually keep my feet warm. So I'm all good. there's so much going on this year! For starters, I'm pregnant! this little baby was planned and we're thrilled to be expecting him or her around August 28th. :)
My print house hosts a huge baby & child contest every year from March to June. Submissions from 2010 are only accepted and can be of children under the ages of 12 only. I take the pictures and submit them (with permission from the client). I can submit pictures for the first round between March 1st and March 21st. Second round, April 1st - April 21st. Third, May 1st - May 21st. And fourth, June 1st - 21st. Voting is held following each month's submission deadlines, and winners of each round are chosen, then one final grand prize winner is chosen at the end. The categories are color, black & white or Sepia, Humorous, and Special Needs. If your picture is chosen as grand prize winner, you will receive from me a gift certificate for $1,000. There are prizes for first, second, third places, and two Honorable Mention places. Pictures are chosen out of ALL photographers, not from each. Voting is done by photographers who go through the print house (we get unlimited votes to cast). So hurry up and book your appointment today for your chance to win!
